Description

Kutz Camp is designed for teens who are looking for a challenging and exciting summer program that will enhance their skills in a specific area of interest. Teens in the program have the ability to choose Majors, Minors, Learning Labs and Electives to create a schedule that best fits their needs. Primary areas of focus include Leadership, Social Justice, Jewish Learning, and the Arts, including song leading and fine arts. Participants attend Kutz from across North America and around the world. For more than fifty years, Kutz has been home to meaningful leadership development within the Reform Jewish community.

Melissa Frey

melissa-directorMelissa Frey has served as director of the URJ Kutz Camp since 2008, and has been an instrumental member of the URJ’s year-round youth programs team since 1999. A product of the Union for Reform Judaism’s Camps (Greene Family Camp and Kutz Camp), NFTY and BBYO, Melissa has been involved in youth work in various capacities with the URJ for over twenty years. Melissa is an honors graduate of Purdue University and has a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Texas. Melissa participated in the third cohort of the Foundation for Jewish Camp’s prestigious Executive Leadership Institute. Her multi-dimensional background is reflected in her unique approach to experiential Jewish education. Melissa builds teen leadership via Jewish ethics and values, engagement and empowerment, and by fostering strong, meaningful, Jewish communities.
