May 28 update: One Happy Camper NJ continues to be your local resource on Jewish-affiliated summer programs. We are in close contact with camps and teen programs, to keep up on the latest plans for summer 2020 – including virtual and in-person options. Please contact Tracy Levine at Tracy@OneHappyCamperNJ.org or (973) 975-9213 for guidance on summer programs.

Our hearts are with Jewish camps and camp families right now. One Happy Camper NJ of Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ recognizes the difficult and multi-faceted decisions facing the camps serving our region and supports their individual decisions. We are closely monitoring updates about summer 2020 from the Foundation for Jewish Camp, the American Camp Association, and the many Jewish day camps and overnight camps serving the Greater MetroWest NJ region. We expect the individual camps to make and announce their decisions during the coming weeks.

Especially in light of the news of Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) camps and a number of other Jewish overnight camps not running this summer, we at One Happy Camper NJ are available to talk with families about alternative options for summer 2020, with the understanding that decisions about camp opening and the parameters under which they would run are still pending at this time.

Please be assured that Greater MetroWest youth originally awarded 2020 One Happy Camper grants and/or need-based scholarships for summer 2020 who are not attending camp for any reason in summer 2020 (including cancellation of the program or decision by the family to withdraw) will be given priority to apply for grants/scholarships toward camp in summer 2021, as long as they continue to meet the eligibility criteria. There may also be the opportunity to apply funding to alternative summer programs for 2020 – please be in touch with us to discuss this option.

Please reach out to Tracy Levine at tracy@onehappycampernj.org or (973) 929-2970 with any camp related questions or requests. Wishing good health and Shabbat Shalom to all during these challenging times.
