  • Attending a non-profit, Jewish overnight camp listed on Foundation for Jewish Camp’s Find A Camp directory
  • First time this camper is attending this specific camp for 12 days or more
  • Application deadline of May 31, 2023 (or sooner if the funding maximum is reached)
  • Grants are limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis

Campers may also be eligible for a One Happy Camper grant up to $1,000 and additional financial resources from Federation; click here to learn more.

At Jewish camp, ruach (spirit) is part of every activity – from arts and adenture to sports and STEM – allowing campers to explore their connection to Judaism in a meaningful way while having the summer of their lives. Studies show that children who attend Jewish camp are more likely to become adults who value their heritage, are engaged in their communities, support more causes, and take on leadership roles through their lives.

FAQs

What is the definition of an RSJ (Russian Speaking Jewish) family for the purposes of this grant?

A family where the child attending camp includes Judaism as part of their identity, and the child and/or their immediate family member(s) were born in a country of the former Soviet Union.

My child is receiving a Greater MetroWest One Happy Camper grant or scholarship. Are they eligible?

Yes! This special RSJ Grant is incremental to other financial incentives for Jewish overnight camp, including Federation’s One Happy Camper grants and Rocker Family Overnight Camp Scholarships.

How do I get the grant money?

Once your application is approved and registration is confirmed by your summer program, the grant payment will be forwarded directly to the camp/organization during the summer. The camp may deduct the grant amount from your balance; or, if you are already paid in full or your balance is less than grant amount, you will receive a refund or credit from the camp/organization. We will advise the camp/organization to do so, and we recommend that you confirm specifics with the camp/organization directly.

Is there a deadline to apply for the 2023 Jewish Overnight Camp Grant for RSJ Families?

Grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, and grant availability is limited. Thus, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible once your child has been registered for camp. The deadline to apply for a grant is May 31, 2023 (or sooner if the funding maximum is reached).
